For deleting several contacts, you can open the menu in the contacts app, and
choose "delete contacts"; that will let you mark many contacts and delete them
all.

The tap-and-hold context menu doesn't seem much easier than tapping the contact
and then tapping their picture to edit the contact, but it seems worth adding
this anyway for consistency as described in comment #1.
