SOFTWARE VERSION:

EXACT STEPS LEADING TO PROBLEM: 
1. Add new contact
2. Fill a name, number (or sth), add a field: "note", type something into that
note
3. Save, close contact card
4. Reopen contact card
5. Try to add new field - "note"

EXPECTED OUTCOME:
Second note appears

ACTUAL OUTCOME:
Not able to add more than one note :-(

REPRODUCIBILITY:
always

EXTRA SOFTWARE INSTALLED:
none, observed on 'clean' nokia n900

OTHER COMMENTS:
This bug may have something in common with bug 5291 (Support multiple Company
fields), as one of Maemo developers (Andre Klapper) wrote this kind of change
was a design decision. Change, because in Symbian-based devices, like my old
nokia N95, one could easily add multiple notes to any contact. I know it is
totally different OS and fields like "company name" may be sometimes required
to be used only once, but adding notes is (was?) awesome feature in
Symbian-based devices that was very useful for me (although not being so
selfish, I set priority to "Low" ;-) ). 
Another point: I observed that when I create contact with multiple notes on old
N95 and transfer it to N900, I can see multiple notes and edit them (but still
cannot add more than one note per contact). That is why I report this as a bug
- because multiple notes clearly ARE supported in contacts, but CANNOT be added
on the phone.
