Summary: No option for Full or Limited character support in SMS
Product: Chat & Call & SMS
Version: 5.0/(1.2009.42-11)
Platform: All
OS/Version: Maemo
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: Medium
Component: Messaging
AssignedTo: rtcomm at maemo.org
ReportedBy: kostas.pav at gmail.com
QAContact: im-chat-bugs at maemo.bugs
SOFTWARE VERSION:
1.2009.42-11
EXACT STEPS LEADING TO PROBLEM:
(Explain in detail what you do (e.g. tap on OK) and what you see (e.g. message
Connection Failed appears))
1. Tap on Menu > Conversations > New SMS
2. Tap on plain field for the virtual keyboard to appear
3. Select Greek
4. Type in Greek uppercase or lowercase
(Greek language should be activated in N900's settings for the virtual keyboard
first)
EXPECTED OUTCOME: Virtually transform the message to uppercase and send it as
one of 160 characters
ACTUAL OUTCOME: Sends multiple messages of 70 characters
REPRODUCIBILITY: always
EXTRA SOFTWARE INSTALLED: none that could affect the issue
OTHER COMMENTS: This problem existed in previous Nokia devices, until Nokia
activated the option of "Limited character support". For example, in a previous
phone such as N97, you could select Limited or Full in characters support, in
messaging settings. When you select Limited the phone virtually transforms
Greek to uppercase characters and every message contains 160 characters. This
option is NOT available in N900.
