Hi & thanks for reporting this.

I just tried this myself by 
1. starting "Phone" in landscape mode
2. clicking dialling pad
3. choosing Call type = Skype account
4. calling my other number
5. accepting that call from the N900
6. pressing the hardware zoom/volume button (works - changes displayed in 
   yellow popup on screen)
7. pressing the statusbar so it is displayed
8. pressing the hardware zoom/volume button (works - changes displayed 
   in statusbar)

Cannot reproduce this in internal version 2009.52-5.
