We have still some features missing and bugs in http://maemo.org/news (btw, the subbscribers of these list should be using the fave features on a regular basis) :) However, one day (hopefully sooner than later) we will fix those and the beta period will end. That day we will have a visible change in the home, reflecting all the latest and best news. Ideas? I've got some: - The area to use is still the body below the 'open source development for ..." banner. The column stays as it is. - Announcements still will need an own place (perhaps showing only the 1-3 latest + link for more). - Community (Garage) + Planet will disappear as own entities. The best garage news and blog enties will hit the home when the maemo community and the karma maths push them there. - The top news of the day should be very visible, with extended text and image if it has it. The rest only headline. This is visually attractive to users and is a good incentive for news writers. - Latest Flickr and latest YouTube hitting the top 10 or getting a karma above X should have a fixed space in the home featuring a thumbnail. - Users should be able to fave already in the home. More incentive to writers to hit the home and stay there more days. - A thought for later: we need to leave some space for an "Events" block somewhere, featuring the nex conferences meetings etc with a maemo interest. -- Quim Gil - http://maemo.org
