We have been discussing OpenID with Eero, but the protocol has some
security issues and other limitations that must be taken into
consideration. Another option for single sign-on and identitity
between the various maemo.org services would be Shibboleth.

Yep, OpenID (consumer, not yet provider) is there, but will need a bit
love before I would consider rolling it out to maemo.org

In any case, I believe the HTTP/HTTPS question causes more of the
authentication hassles than lack of OpenID.
