This is the system GNOME uses, and I don't like it. It's also not the
one which was agreed in the discussion in the wiki (to which people have
been pointed on sufficient occasions to contribute at this stage).

What happens when you give everyone 5 votes is that people typically
have 2 or 3 candidates they feel strongly about, they vote for those
first, then thhey fill out their 5 votes with 2 or 3 "name recognition"
people - those people get a lot of votes that are 3rd, 4th or 5th
preference I bet - and the results are a popularity contest, where it's
hard for newcomers with small passionate electorates to get elected.

I would prefer a single transferable vote system, but any system more
complicated than that (such as the Debian voting system) is just so
horribly difficult to understand that I don't think they're useful.

One other point: there was a time & holidays limitation on a software
solution to be used. I am now aware of several online voting systems
which will allow us to run elections differently in the future editions.
