I suspect you're being facetious; but let's say - for the sake of
argument - you're not. In which case, no "we" don't need to rename
#maemo.

If you have a maemo.org account you can be considered part of the
maemo.org community if you then contribute to the things which the
maemo.org community values.

This currently includes, but is not limited to:
  * Rating news
  * Generating news
  * Creating popular products
  * Raising bugs
  * Contributing to the mailing lists.

AIUI, developments are underway to count ITT metrics for maemo.org
users in their karma; and we've already discussed ways of counting
contributions to the IRC channel.

Just because the maemo.org community values it doesn't mean that the
maemo.org community (nor its representative council) "own" it.

For example, the community (and by that, in future, I probably mean
the council) could decide that the number of hits on Google for
someone's email address and the word "maemo" contribute to their
karma. This doesn't mean that Google's fallen under the remit of
maemo.org, or the council. It just means that Google (like ITT) is a
tool to help measure the contribution of a maemo.org member.

Obviously that example is entirely specious, but hopefully it
illustrates that whoever "owns" #maemo is irrelevant: it's a place
which in which contributions to the wellbeing of the maemo.org
community are valued and should be recognised as such.

Hope that helps,

Andrew
