[maemo-community] Mailing list subscription karma (was Re: Election process referendum)

Ok,

I've been following this thread for a while --
However, as an unreleased Maemo developer; I would be totally excluded from
voting because:

1. I'm primarily a lurker on iTT (have only a couple dozen posts, apparently
equals 0 Karma).
2. I do read the Maemo Developers; but through GossamerThreads (so no
subscriber Karma)
3. I have a unreleased package I'm working on, so no Garage Project = 0
Karma.
4. Been active since just before the 810 was released.

However, according to my account I only have "5" Karma points... I'd even
be excluded if you had the limit at 10, lol.

I would love to vote; but apparently I don't have enough Karma to be
considered worth while voter?

Nathan.

Someone suggested karma for mailing list subscriptions (I can't seem to find
the email, so apologies for no attributing). So, a proposal:

Somewhere between 2-5 karma points are awarded for every maemo.org mailing
list subscription. That includes: maemo-users, maemo- developers,
maemo-community, maemo-commits, and maemo-announce.

So a user subscribed to -users, -developers and -community will get between
6 and 15 karma points.

Niels/Henri, can we get some numbers on what percentage of subscriptions
bounce? I'm thinking it _could_ be worthwhile to invalidate the karma of
subscriptions who are bouncing, but I'm not sure if it's worth the trouble
of the details of a technical implementation. . . .
