My experience was different. Rotterdam is the biggest port in Europe and was a target of the Germans in World War II. Consequently it was heavily bombed and much of it destroyed. When they rebuilt, the Dutch saw an opportunity to showcase architecture and re-plan a city on a grand scale. While it is industrial, it has some marvelous spaces and some real architectural gems. Adam has mostly expensive options in the center, unless you chose the Red Light district and that seems inappropriate. Jeremiah
