It looks good and people want to make things look and feel good. How the end product feels is for non developers even more important then if the "code it right and there are no duplications of code". And it is even worse people are ready to go in a lot of pain an learn esoteric stuff just to get it good-looking. 2) open source doesnt' excel at end-user/product oriented development modes. I my career I rarely found developers to have good graphical skils and even worse in the open-source overall we are not about making it look good(stupid it know). So you are probably wright that if you want good looking application you need people/skils to make things look good. The best looking and functional apps in maemo are apps created by developers using python(I guess it removes a lot of programming hassle and leaves time to make it look good). my point is that is that in my experience open source developers and developers in general are very good at communicating and talking about there problems. Designers and writer on the other are very bad at working together and when they are good designer they are not able to deliver designs in such a way it is usable for programmers. so as good-looking guy how are you going to solve this problem? 3) open source doesn't work like that Just look at the forum some people are proposing different skils(design , UI , interaction, documentation) we provide "free packaging". but not enough people make use of this, Why? we need to answer this first before putting even more resources in this. My feeling is that we miss something called synergy and adding resource is not the answer to that greetings
