Because it will require your friends and yourself to activate devel repos on maybe non-devel devices. What you end up with is sure, your app being distributed to only your mates, but suddenly everyone's running bleeding edge software the next time they press a beery finger on "Update". Regardless, why limit the number of people who have access to your app?
