Hello Community! I'm glad to announce that - in line with declarations
from this list, IRC and TMO, Communtiy Awards program is starting:

1. Receiving submissions starts at Monday, 28 May, 00:00 UTC. It will
last for 3 weeks.

2. Self-submissions allowed, *only*, via community mailing list
*only*. Submissions may contain rationale/"my life story with
Maemo/whatever, but it's not required.

3. Submission must contain info, if someone is interested *only* in
N950 or N9 (so, in case of not enough devices of preferred type, no
prize), or will be satisfied by any type of prize.

4. Community Awards are granted for past deeds, so no future
projects/promises, etc are took into account by Council.

5. People that received N950's in any form before (dev programs, etc)
can't submit for / receive another one , but they *can* submit for N9.

6. Council will choose winners in it's discretion, in no more than a
week time (so winners will be announced no more than 4 weeks after
starting receiving submissions) - could be less.

---

Announcement in maemo.org news and Planet Maemo is on it's way. All
submissions will be published in locked (for edit by Council only)
wiki page, updated at least once per week. Same page will be used to
announce winners.

Good luck!

/Estel

Hi,

I'll not be able to make the meeting tomorrow. I want to propose
postponing it one day to Tuesday May 29, 15:00 UTC

Any objections?

Yes, thats great. I love maemo too and my head is full of many ideas about apps. But i dont have a device and i prefer the N950 because of the keyboard. I use it really often on my N900.

Hey All,

I have been an N900 user since May of 2010. I must say I have never heard of Linux or the related before getting my hands on a Maemo device. The N900 experience gave me a wider perspective about smartphones and technology and how it should be in terms of practical use completeness. I am very active in TMO not in the development side, but in the end user side. Testing new apps have been an adventure and just like watching a suspense movie. I am very willing to test more and more apps most especially Frematle CSSU. Also, I am a anti-spam soldier. I have reported so many spam threads and from time to time comment on threads which are unnecessary or not on the correct category.

Thanks for your time!

Best,
Kent

Hello all,

I apply for a N950 device for the Communtiy Awards program.

I have ported already several pentest tools for the N9, and want to ensure
that these also work on N950. ATM issues are kernel changes and compiling,
to implement NAT and packet injection. Goal is to have a full suite of
pentest tools with a working GUI (Qt is my current target as a wrapper
around GTK, hopefully this project will be usefull to make all Qt programs
GTK aware)
I need two devices because this takes a lot of reflashing of alpha kernels,
but also to be able to test on both N9 and N950.
I have N9, therefore I ask for N950.

Hello, maemo.org!

I'm nominating myself for the Maemo Community Awards. I would like a
device, because I need one with more headroom than the N900 in terms of
horsepower for various experiments (either the N950 or N9 will do, as they
both share the same CPU).

I really hope that I can get one, as I have lots of free time on my hands,
and really want to be able to give back my efforts to the Maemo community

This is not required, allthough may improve chances of 'winning' a Device.

As criteria clearly says "Community Awards are granted for past deeds, so
no future projects/promises, etc are took into account by Council. "
so it's pointless to say say anything about what you like to do in the
future as that is not counted. So no promised to test with N950, or to
improve some software.

So its enough just to say what you have done in the past.

Hi,

I'd like to try my luck.

https://lists.maemo.org/mailman/listinfo/maemo-community

Mainly for packagetesting and my efforts to improve wiki (unfortunately it
didn't help that much because of the transition to meego -> tizen instead
of continuing with maemo...)

Hello,

I'm nominating myself for the Maemo Community Awards. I would like a N950.
I've released some packages in the past (like smssend, groupsms,
volumecontroldaemon, vodafone190, vodafone190 desktop widget,
QtBatteryWidget, QtLockscreen) and updated some existing packages (like
pcsxrearmed, psx4m, psx4m-gui) and I'd really like to develop also for the
N9. :)

Hi,

Could people nomination themselves add a link to their maemo.org profile
page We could list those in the wiki instead of the tmo profile links.

for example the link for sakya is: https://lists.maemo.org/mailman/listinfo/maemo-community

Helps to get a better overall picture

I have discarded the changes you have made in the Wiki page. You have
messed up the page and some other candidates links to add yourself.

Everyone, please, *DO NOT* edit the Community Awards Wiki page to add
yourself to it. The Council will do.

In the meantime, we will try to lock the page to avoid this kind of
problems.

Reposting this from Jonni:

As criteria clearly says "Community Awards are granted for past deeds,
so no future projects/promises, etc" please tell us explicitly what you
have done for/in Maemo IN THE PAST.
At this stage we don't particularly care about what the mysterious
bright future might bring.

Thanks,
andre

Hi Kent,

That is the profile at maemo.org Talk (forum). I have also added (as Timoph
suggested) the profile pages at maemo.org, which also includes other
information of the user such as karma points, garage projects, etc.

These profile pages are stored in https://lists.maemo.org/mailman/listinfo/maemo-community

Don't worry if you don't have that profile page enabled, it's not mandatory.

Dear Maemo community,

my name si Roman Moravcik (known as rmoravcik). I would like to submit
myself to Community Awards. If you don't remember what I did (or
maintained) for N900 here is a list of applications and widgets:

Ukeyboard, Slovak localization for N900, Nameday applet, Flashlight
widget, MStardict, Subtitles Support for built-in media player, CUE
Sheet Widget, Birthday application, Camera Lens Launcher, Medard, GPSData.

I didn't receive any N9/N950 in any dev program and I'm interested in
getting N9.

Thank you and it was fun developing and hacking N900 (the best
smartphone I ever had and still have).

Best regards,
Roman

Past deeds:
- Submitted following apps to Ovi Store

https://lists.maemo.org/mailman/listinfo/maemo-community

- btinput-terminal has over 5000 free downloads from the store

https://lists.maemo.org/mailman/listinfo/maemo-community

- Have been quite active helping people on my free time on TMO
- My TMO username rainisto https://lists.maemo.org/mailman/listinfo/maemo-community

https://lists.maemo.org/mailman/listinfo/maemo-community

- IRC maemo-community at maemo.org #harmattan #N9
- Have been running Linux servers at home 24/7 since 1994. :-)
- Ported PresenceVNC to Harmattan

https://lists.maemo.org/mailman/listinfo/maemo-community

(currently working on making full vkb support for next version, but
that's another story as its not past deed)

Applying for black CE N950 as that is the only device that I'm currently
missing (I do have old silver protoes with cripled RAM and they are not CE
marked).
But I will also be fine with N9, if there are better applicants who's past
deeds are more suitable fro N950.

I have not received N9/N950 device through any dev programs before.

Best regards,
Jonni Rainisto
