Hi Everyone,

I work for a non-profit organization (http://web.uvic.ca/uvatt) that
develops technology for disabled people. Specifically, I'm
developing an alternate text input and application control program.
This was originally meant for people using an eye or head tracker to
control the mouse cursor, but now we see potential for the application
on a tablet-type device.

This application is written in Qt4, which hugely increased my
productivity developing for Windows/Linux/Mac, but limits our choices
on embedded platforms.

The 770 looks like a perfect hardware platform though, and we would
like to port to it. Now I read most of the discussion around support
for Qt on the maemo platform, and it seems like it is possible, but
not entirely smooth yet. Our application is very very different from
the norm, which might make it easier or harder to port, depending on
what maemo supports.

Karoliina, I gather that you have managed to compile Qt3 and Qt4 apps
for maemo. Is this correct? I also gather that the input method is
supported at the GTK level, and not X11, but I'm not sure what this
means. Our application has no need for text entry from an on-screen
keyboard or handwriting recognition. All it needs to be able to do is
respond to mouse clicks and movements. Would a Qt application be able
to do that? Transparency support (partially transparent windows)
would also be nice, but not absolutely required.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Leo
