You can set up your development environment in scratchbox target, then prepare image out 
of it and flash it using flasher. I think it much faster than doing that on device.

I think it makes sense in some cases, but it's just matter of how your development is set up.

Well, if you have network connection to your Nokia 770 you can transfer files from/to the 
device using scp or NFS or some other network protocol.
