Not event ncurses based. You don't need to program "X11" with maemo SDK. I found the maemo tutorial rather difficult for starters (IMHO) and would recommend that you would try to go trough the GTK+ tutorial first (although it is quite outdated), be sure to use the version 2.x tutorial, not the 1.x. When you've done you're first menus and vboxes and things like that, you might want to look at the tutorial again. Follow the installation instructions. You need scratchbox and the maemo RS (SDK). The rootstrap contains the special flavour GTK+ libs that you'll need but as I said, you should really start with normal GTK+ first. It's not that different in maemo. The "Hildon Libs" are custom widgets for the special version of GTK+ that comes with the SDK. Hope this helps ak.
