AFAIK, 770 already has a music player that plays mp3's so I doubt that
possibility to give an mp3 -playing interface would change the royalty
situation.

What I'm really interested in is whether that player uses DSP to decode
the music. If that's true, then some kind of interface for it would be
really cool as this would leave more processing power to other applications.

I doubt many 3rd party players have support for DSPs like the 770 music
player may have.
