Hi, well, regardless these SUN bureaucratic/formal issues, you could also ask yourself about how would be the look of j2me apps running on such a device. I mean, would them fit in properly on this pretty large screen. In general, j2me aims cel phones (PDAs have a bigger screen/resolution support, I know), but its available-free-sdk widgets are not the at rich. So, I'd suggest you , at least, porting an proprietary j2me, with customized widgets for the 77'device/maEmo, but in this case, Nokia'd have to 'step in' on the process ... Anyhow, you're free for trying porting j2me to maEmo environment (distributing it is another question), in my concernigs, though, it's a as such a rich Toolkit as another ones already sucessfully ported so far (like gtk+ itseft, XUL, and some bindings as PyGTK, Gtkmm, and so on) ... Btw, talking about game development on j2me, ok. there are some good ones. Just don't forget about performance issues, since it's an interpreted language. regards -- --Antonio Gomes INdT (Instituto Nokia de Tecnologia / Nokia Technology Institute) http:// tonikitoo (dot) blogspot (dot) com > > I guess you'd need to ask Sun - j2me is proprietary, right? > > Almost ;) > The problem with Java in general is that Sun gives you the sourcecode of > the reference implementation which already includes ARM support but it > does not allow to redistribute any modified source or binary.
