I'd really like to see someone start a project that packages all the various OS projects needed to allow J2ME and J2SE apps run on Linux handhelds like the 770 and the GP2X. It looks like we're very close to identifying what can be used from all of these recent emails. My ideal handheld java stack would look like what Bartek has documented on his web page with a couple of additions: VM: JamVM - http://jamvm.sourceforge.net/ SableVM - http://sablevm.org/ Kaffe - http://www.kaffe.org/ Compiler: Jikes - http://jikes.sourceforge.net/ Classes: GNU Classpath - http://www.gnu.org/software/classpath/ UI: SWT - http://www.eclipse.org/swt/ AWT - Odonata AWT - http://odonata.tangency.co.uk/ Java-Gnome - http://java-gnome.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/bin/view J2ME: MicroEmulator - http://www.sourceforge.net/projects/microemulator) >It would be great if someone could also to get the AWT implementation >working which would enable also Swing to run on 770. >Just imagine the tons of java programs which could be executed without >any modification on the 770 :-) > >lg Clemens > >2006/3/20, Bartek Teodorczyk <barteo at barteo.net>: >> Hello, >> >> I've prepared little document about running CLDC/MIDP applications on >> the Maemo SDK: >> http://www.microemu.org/maemo/ >> >> Regards, >> Bartek Teodorczyk >> _______________________________________________ >> maemo-developers mailing list >> maemo-developers at maemo.org >> https://maemo.org/mailman/listinfo/maemo-developers >> >
