Well then maybe it's using 100mW rather than 10mW :-)

Seriously  power != range.  I find mine works best with 10mW.  I can 
be anywhere in the house and the connection is perfect. It probably 
helps a little with power consumption too.

With radio never assume that the greatest power will give the greatest 
working range.
