Hi, I notice that apps recording from the microphone input--Maemo Recorder in my case--are limited to a sampling rate of 8,000 Hz (I looked in ~/.gstreamer-0.8/registry.arm.xml (or whatever) to determine this). This is okay if there is little to no background noise (I am recording class lectures), but if there are papers shuffling or excess talking the main voice can get very hard to follow. Is it possible to increase the sample rate, say, to 22,050 Hz, where the GNOME Sound Recorder is set for "voice" quality? This works quite well but unfortunately requires my Thinkpad to be fired up :(. What's more, my Thinkpad doesn't have the battery life of the Nokia, especially with WLAN on. I have a 1 GB memory card so space is not really a concern (typical .wav files from one session with g-s-r on my laptop are ~230 MB). Regards, Andrew Barr
