What I do about this is circumvent this whole business: Maemo Service Handler: http://tuomas.kulve.fi/blog/2007/01/27/maemo-service-handler/ I shut down metalayer-crawler, and remove it from the boot. No more indexing then, but no more use of the media player either. So, what I use is Kilikali: http://kilikali.garage.maemo.org/ which, although admittedly still rough on the edges (UI wise), fits the use case we seem to share pretty well. As a bonus, it also won't *prevent* you from playing your ogg/vorbis music as the media player seems to do. A bit of development and it should allow other formats too, provided that you install a demuxer/decoder for it. That said, people who have just mp3's and really want to have that database approach and don't want to hand-add every file/directory are probably better off with the current solution. With all it's problems and limitations (and confusing UI ;). -- Kalle Vahlman, zuh at iki.fi Powered by http://movial.fi Interesting stuff at http://syslog.movial.fi
