This is precisely why we are pushing again the roadmap at maemo.org. As
you say, we have a lot of information interesting to developers that is
"public" and spread all over *.maemo.org. Formats of this information
include almost lost wiki pages and source code.

With the roadmap we want to have a central place where the relevant
information is at least indexed, and hopefully also linked to the
relevant source (and then an almost lost wiki page or an almost lost
sardine package is not lost anymore).

The roadmap could even show optionally the status of features i.e.
planned, unstable, testing... Stable features would be the ones already
available in the last maemo release.

These features would include documentation improvements, new services in
the website and so on. A savvy developer stepping on maemo.org for the
first time should get in this single page a picture of where we are and
where are we heading to. Even not so savvy contributors should get an
idea of what are the plans, so she can find her preferred areas to
contribute and she can also avoid i.e. duplicating work that someone
else is already doing.

Now you make think... We can also add to this roadmap relevant planned
features from Garage projects, and even wished features relating to
these projects. A Garage column in the roadmap to avoid confusion
between Nokia/maemo-official commitments and independent projects
commitments?

I have this email in the queue of topics to discuss with Carlos. Thanks
Murray for the (unsurprising) high quality of your feedback.
