I wanted an easy (but reasonably efficient) way to run scripts when WLAN connections go up and down so I decided to adapt Matan Ziv-Av's dbus-s program into a more general capability. I have created a program called dbus-scripts which uses a configuration directory to control what scripts should be run on what events. The idea is that packages which want to take action on dbus events do not necessarily have to run their own daemon but can use this mechanism to watch for the events they care about. There is some information on how to use this at http://www.cobb.uk.net/770/index.html and in the /etc/dbus-scripts.d/dbus-scripts-example installed by the package. I use this mechanism in an updated version of my tinc package. Both packages are available from my repository (see http://www.cobb.uk.net/770/index.html) if they are of any use to anyone else. If anyone uses this I would be interested to hear what you are doing with it. Graham
