Hello,

I had a quite pleasant surprise today when I noticed that fakeroot "just
works" with SB2. This means that it is possible that debian packaging tools
could work. I'm not saying they do, and I can't test them myself, but
anyone who has experience in working with them, and who is not afraid of
doing a little experimenting would be most welcome to give it a shot.

SB2 seems to work on both x86 and x86_64 architectures, on both Gentoo
and Debian. I seem to have fixed a large number of problems after wrapping
the openat() & co functions which were missing previously. I'm aiming
at perhaps creating the first release of SB2 at end of February, depending
if I get positive feedback about the debian packaging tools.

You can get the source from:

It is not entirely out of the question that you could already today use
SB2 to build software for the Maemo platform, but you would need to know
exactly what you're doing.

PS. Test reports from people who have a RedHat, Fedora or SuSE box would
be appreciated.
