As you might imagine, we have focused our SDK only for SB1 environment.
As the minimal environment in rootstrap is so limited, it didn't even
cross my mind that somebody wants to download the rootstrap.

This is a good point. Rootstrap seems to be missing some essential
packages that are not needed in SB1 environment. Could you please file a
bug report to bugs.maemo.org?
