Normaly they are stored under /usr/share/application, but for maemo I suggest store it like the other apps under /usr/share/application/hildon . If your app is not a gtk-hildon app you have to set the WM_CLASS right. You can see which name is used for WM_CLASS when you execute the xprop programm from x-debug-tools package and tap on your app. Bye Henning
