Good comments on both the sides. Some of the points made by developers are very valid. But a query though. Why can't Maemo make a crash reporting system like the one Android has? All the smartphone OS out there are measured on the number of applications available in their repos (and everybody knows that most of them are fart apps). My application "confmgr" has been in extras-testing for over 2 months now. I use the application everyday and do want to add certain features in my spare time. But since I am not getting the exposure/feedback on the existing version, I will probably launch the next version in MeeGo perhaps. In short, a crash reporting system like Android and availability of all the apps directly to mass users will help Maemo and MeeGo a lot (besides KISSTester). Or else as I read somewhere in the mail chain, Maemo should recruit testers whose only job is to test the applications from the queue and vote up/down depending on their experience. But if Maemo/MeeGo is planning to hit the 100,000 app mark then such a lengthy, cumbersome and slow process will not help. BR; Naresh visit me at: http://www.naresh.se/
