Try cat /proc/version on your device to see which compiler was used. I 
guess it it 3.4.2 from CodeSourcery but the 3.4.4 (default in maemo 2.x 
rootstrap) seems to work fine too. In IT2005 it was gcc 3.4 vs 3.3 
(which is big difference).
