I noticed.  :-)  Even when it is running in the background, it pops up an
annoying "Loading" popup with a progress bar on top of your foreground
application (which was Maemo Mapper for me).

Suggestion: convert this into a discrete notification/progress bar that
is part of the main window rather than a separate one.  (Please don't
consider abusing a Maemo infotip for this.  Thanks!)

The map issues seem to be on the proxy or server side.  I'm unable to
download the same tile either (wget just hangs), although tiles a few km
to the south work fine (but are almost empty and generally
uninteresting).
