I don't develop, but I would think that 1.0 means you met all your original goals. small point versions after that would be bug fixes and feature tweaks (but not much in the way of additions). The 2.0 version would be worked on and subsequently released when the app no longer does everything you want it to. (in developing 1.0, one comes up with a ton of features they hadn't thought of but just have to go out of scope). I know that's not really the way it's done, but it makes sense to me. Otherwise, version number milestones like 1.0, 2.0 are just arbitrary.
