https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3672 Summary: Internet Call keeps trying a non-existing IP Product: Communication Version: unspecified Platform: N800 OS/Version: Maemo Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: Medium Component: Internet Call AssignedTo: rtcomm at maemo.org ReportedBy: parejkoj at speakeasy.net QAContact: internet-call-bugs at maemo.org SOFTWARE VERSION: 4.2008.30-2 I recently updated my N800 to Diablo, but then was unable to use the Internet Call function (which runs telepathy, correct?), because the tablet was giving my firewall grief. After some digging, I found that the tablet was repeatedly trying to connect to a non-existent IP (192.168.1.66) on a random, high-numbered UDP port (>49000) and my Linux firewall was blocking all such connections (doing exactly as I told it to do!). I've changed the "drop" rule to "reject" and calls now go through, but I'm wondering why the tablet is trying to access that IP. I can provide a tcpdump of an attempted internet call or more details of my home network configuration, which is roughly as follows: /-> wireless (192.168.3.x) -> N800 firewall (192.168.1.1) \-> wired (192.168.1.x) -> desktop This happens every time I attempt a call with the tablet, and happened immediately after reflashing and installing the OS2008 update with via SSU, so it isn't due to some other piece of software. "lsof -i" during an attempted Internet Call confirms that "telepathy" is the process that is poking at the above IP. I would not have figured this out if it weren't for the fact that my firewall (an Ultrasparc-60 running Debian) apparently briefly freezes up due to the large number of DENYs it has to issue, which I suspect is the real reason the Internet Calls don't go through: the route dies. This is very odd behavior. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.maemo.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Replies to this email are NOT read, instead please add comments at https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3672 ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are the assignee for the bug, or are watching the assignee.
