No, I bought the N900 from the Nokia Online Shop.

I've just realised: the number that is appearing in "My information" is a
temporary number which was assigned to me during transfer between operators. So
I guess the number is stored on the SIM card (I've had a new number for several
weeks now.)

It's not really out of scope - if the SIM card is capable of holding a wrong
number, I expect to be able to edit the details that my phone gives out for my
contact information (via bluetooth etc).
I understand what's happening, but it's still a bug (in my opinion) that I
can't:
a) edit the number, or
b) remove the incorrect number

I installed both extras-testing and extras-devel, and neither had an
"eds-tools" package available (through the GUI at least). I tried to find it in
the "All" category and via the search function...
