Is it not done via the SAT menu because no GSM phone lets you /dial/ "*101*1#"?
If they do, they would have to have special handling for this particular
command, since by the spec, the command should be sent as a USSD, which might
or might not have the same effect.

The UI is aware of supplementary service commands, but unfortunately it cannot
handle them yet and the rather generic banner fails to convey this clearly. As
a curiosity, dialing "*101*1p#" should succeed though I don't expect it to be
handled the same as "ATD *101*1"...
