Interestingly, nobody pointed out that the standard command to get your IMEI
does not work either. The correct behaviour for this is to type in "*#06#" and
as soon as you hit the last "#" the UE should spit out your IMEI. This has
nothing to do with dialling and the modem, and is handled (mostly) only by the
UI. This, to me, suggests that the issue here is probably really in the UI
handling of "#" and a terminating one at that. Otherwise, what I just described
is a separate bug, to do with "N900 unable to reports its IMEI via *#06#
command". I will leave it to the developers to decide if a new bug is needed.
I'll monitor the discussion here for a while and raise a new bug if I don't see
anyone commenting it is the same issue as discussed here (i.e. SS commands).

BTW, the standard Nokia sequence for getting the UE SW version does not seem to
work either. Not listing it here in case it's not supposed to be public
knowledge (even if I know it already is). ;)
