Summary: Automatic URL linking in Chat fails on URLs containing
accented characters
Product: Chat & Call & SMS
Version: 5.0/(1.2009.42-11)
Platform: N900
URL: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leberkäse
OS/Version: Maemo
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: Unspecified
Component: General
AssignedTo: rtcomm at maemo.org
ReportedBy: jason at xio.com
QAContact: communication-bugs at maemo.bugs
SOFTWARE VERSION:
1.2009.42-11.002
EXACT STEPS LEADING TO PROBLEM:
(Explain in detail what you do (e.g. tap on OK) and what you see (e.g. message
Connection Failed appears))
1. In SMS or IM conversation, receive a chat with a URL containing accented
characters, for example: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leberkäse
2. Observe linkified text.
3. Click link.
EXPECTED OUTCOME:
The entire URL is a link that when clicked loads the page at the full URL.
In the example above, "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leberkäse" is underlined
and colored as a link, clicking the link takes you the the Leberkäse article
on Wikipedia.
ACTUAL OUTCOME:
The link is only recognized upto the accented character. In the example above,
only the part of the URL upto (but not including the ä) is underlined and
colored as a link. Clicking the link takes you to the Wikipedia article not
found page for "Leberk".
REPRODUCIBILITY:
always
EXTRA SOFTWARE INSTALLED:
nothing that should affect IM/SMS or link rendering.
OTHER COMMENTS:
If the URL sent is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leberk%C3%A4se, the entire URL
is fully linked, but you can't ensure your chat partner will properly %-encode
their URLs for you. The example URL is rendered properly in GoogleTalk/GMail.
