It's actually not ill-chosen. The router does speak IPv6 just fine. That's why
it works...

Yes this is the complete sequence. However, this account was configured months
ago, so maybe Telepathy stores some data about the server? Dunno?

What I did for getting this trace is this: I wen to the accounts dialog of
empathy, and disabled the sip account. Then I started tcpdump and reenabled the
account and waited until empathy was fully logged on again.
