After you have clicked on the status applet, you enter a panel where you can
set your status (Online, Occupied, Offline). Under the Insert the status
message lable, there is a list of your activated account. Under this list,
there's a button called "Chat and Voip account", which brings up the complete
list of accounts (including the deactivated accounts), you should go there, and
select your Skype account. Maybe you don't have that button, but it's not
important.

Okay, you are there. Actually I'm trying to guide you to the Edit account for
Skype panel, you can access it even clicking on your Skype account directly
from the status panel, as you've already done.
Now, from the Edit account for Skype panel, click on Buy credit, and you'll see
that the applet can't pop up any web page (it remains on the background). This
bug is not present if you go to Edit account for Skype panel through the
Settings menu.

I'm using an italian N900, I don't know the english names for all the buttons,
but if you are having any other problem following my steps I'll switch the
system language to English and rewrite everything.
