 Ok, it seems that there are several categories here:
 * Apps ready for daily use and that most of us would like having
 installed by default in our devices. For me:
 - Pidgin
 - Advanced backlight applet
 - Load applet
 - Xournal
 - Canola (if it would have a better/faster media scanner and
indexer)
 - mogg
 - Maemo mapper
 - Maemo wordpy
 - Large Status bar clock
 - OMWeather
 * Apps that need some "coders" love:
 - Maemo-recorder
 * Apps under development or that doesn't exist yet:
 - Rotation support (including software based keyboard and
handwriting method)
 Anyway, I think that a wiki with some kind of rating system would
help
 to "organize" this
