It was even a hassle (from a user-only-standpoint) to get everything
up&running after updating to OS2005->OS2006. Many third-party apps
where not available for OS2006 at least for some months, and users are
not able to "just recompile".

Well thats why I think java would be really important for healthy
700/N800 development ;)
