I also find my i386-pc much slower than my current Turion-X2 powered
laptop. And .... whats the conclusion? Maybe not to compare/mix
languages with runtimes?
Java can be compiled statically (like C++), its bytecode can be
interpreted in ~400kb runtimes and so on, its just a language anyway.
