You might have graphicsl elements that you want to draw that are represented more effciently in some vector description than in the rasterized surface, (think, a circle filled with a radial gradient which is represented with little more than a handful of numbers). But in spite of that, "accelerated graphics implies more memory usage" has no support at all. Accelerated graphics just implies that things get drawn faster.
